Stainless steel bars are used for their strength and corrosion resistance properties. The standard length for most size round bars is 12'-14' random lengths, but lengths are available in some sizes up to 20' and longer. Finishes on bars can vary and include cold drawn, centerless ground, smooth turned, rough turned, turned ground and polished, and HRAP.
Popular for its corrosion resistance, stainless steel rod is used in a wide range of applications including the construction of building foundations, bridges, and marine environments. Type 304 stainless steel is a T 300 Series Stainless Steel austenitic.
It has a minimum of 18% chromium and 8% nickel, combined with a maximum of 0.08% carbon. It is defined as a Chromium-Nickel austenitic alloy. Grade 304 is the standard "18/8" stainless that you will probably see in your pans and cookery tools.
